Antique French Bisque Automaton "The Clown with Diabolo game" by Roullet & Decamps FULLY ORIGINAL! JUMEAU CLOSED MOUTH HEAD! FROM COLLECTION FRENCH CHATEAU!
Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a bisque-head clown with blue glass paperweight eyes,lushly-painted lashes and brows,slightly-parted lips,pierced ears,blonde mohair wig over cork pate,carton torso and legs,wire upper arms,bisque forearms. He is wearing his original clown costume of ivory satin with gold paper decoration, black velvet vest, white stockings and black shoes, a fine top hat. When wound,music plays. He turns his head to the right,and and his hands move. Condition: generally excellent,mechanism and music function well. Marks: Depose Tete Jumeau Bte SGDG 1 (and artist checkmarks). Comments: Roullet et Decamps with Jumeau bisque head,circa 1895. Very rare model of which few exist and virtually none in this original costume. From collection of french chateau.
