Very Rare Early French Fashion Doll by DENIS DUVAL c.1861
Pale pressed bisque shoulder head with plump facial modeling, cobalt blue glass enamel inset eyes, painted lashes, feathered brows, accented nostrils, closed mouth with center accent line, unpierced ears, human brown wig over cork pate, French kid poupee body with gusset jointing, porcelain arms to above the elbows, shaped fingers. Very rare early signed poupee with beautiful expression, and wonderful antique original dress, undergarments, shoes and socks. The hat is antique, but not original. The wig is not original too. Generally excellent condition! Marks: Brevete D.D. S.G.D.G. (stamp on torso). Duval-Denis, circa 1861, the firm succeeded the Blampoix firm for two years only at this time.
