Antique Very Rare Early French Bisque FIRST BEBE by Steiner with Motschmann-type body. CLOSED MOUTH, c.1870
15" very Rare French Bisque STEINER Bebe Doll by Julies Steiner in a charming cabinet size. It is taufling or bisque limb baby, circa 1870. The rarity of the model is rivaled by its splendid quality of bisque and painting. This doll has been inspired from the Japanese dolls (circa 1860) and she has bisque Motschmann-type unique body construction with muslin midriff and upper arms and legs, and bisque shoulder plate, lower torso and hips, lower bisque arms and lower bisque legs, bisque bare feet. The solid dom head in excellent condition. Rounded facial modeling, blue glass eyes, painted lashes, rose blushed eye shadow, feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth, shaded lips, human hair wig (not original). Very good condition. Only one very small chip on the little finger of the right hand. Additional photos can me send by request. She is 15" (36 cm).
