Paper mache shoulderhead with slender facial shape and elongated throat,solid dome with painted black pate under elaborate coiffure including real hair curls curled around ears in fixed manner,painted facial features,blue upper glancing eyes,black eyeliner and brows,rounded nose with accented nostrils,closed mouth,sculpted ears,pink kid fashion body with shapely torso,shapely limbs with stitched and separated fingers. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: French,circa 1840,the quality artistry of sculpting and painting is suggestive of early dolls of Pierre-Francois Jumeau. Value Points: the doll wears superb original costume of the region of Arles,France including elaborate coiffe and jewelry,and is preserved under her original glass dome.
