18" Rare Antique French Francois Gaultier bisque head parasol/fan doll, circa 1875.
Fan-Umbrella simplified, created and animated by the CLOCHEZ & SEVETTE company. The pale bisque head with fixed blue enamel glass eyes, closed mouth and pierced ears, original blonde mohair wig with ringlets and three pink cloth roses. The wired arms with bisque hands. The doll wearing pale grey silk dress with the umbrella opening to form the skirt, decorated with fine lace and gold cross. The carved black wooden handle, pulling on the end of the handle triggers the mechanism to raise the dolls arms with two pink silk fans. This Umbrella/fan doll is listed in the book "European fans : from objet d'art to patented invention" by Maryse Volet (1994, Musee d'art Geneve). Very good condition to age. Only very small piece missing from top of handle. The head free of hairline or restoration. This is 46cm (18in) tall. ------------------------------------ I DO A LAYAWAY NO STATE SALES TAX!
