5 1/2" (14 cm.) doll. 8" x 8" x 2 1/2" box. A glass-fronted box with decorative paper gilt edging displays a bisque-head doll with pink-tinted bisque socket head,blue glass sleep eyes,dark eyeliner,painted curly lashes,short feathered brows,accented nostrils and eye corners,closed mouth with downcast pouting expression,brunette mohair wig, composition bent limb baby body.
Rarer glass-eyed version of the wistful-faced baby, original body finish and original wig. The doll has a Heubach mark, 11, Germany. Condition: generally excellent. Comments: SFBJ, circa 1910, the presentation box was commissioned for a luxury Parisian store such as Au Nain Bleu. The box has a lable of SFBJ at the back. In near mint unplayed with condition, the rare size Heubach doll wears fine muslin baby clothing and bonnet, and has additional bonnets, jacket, and accessories of fine white pique, along with little book arranged in the original box.
