Posed upon a wooden platform with colorful paper decorations is a tented carousel with three wooden horses and three all bisque german soldiers as riders; each horse painted a different color, the center pole decorated with silk trim, helmets and tricolor flags (after the Austro-Prussian War in 1866, the Prussian-dominated North German Confederation adopted a tricolour of black-white-red as its flag. This flag later became the flag of the German Empire, formed following the unification of Germany in 1871, and was used until 1918).
The soldiers costumed in colorful uniforms with ribbons, gold orders and having painting eyes, five piece bisque bodies. When wound the carousel revolves merrily and very beautiful music plays.
Very delightful mechanical toy functions very well...

Condition: generally excellent! All original!

Germany, circa 1890, attributed to Zinner and Sohne, the most important German firm in the production of novelty and hand-wind toys featuring bisque dolls.
