Antique French faded grandeur burgundy velvet and blue silk lined chaise a porteurs or sedan chair, ideal doll accessory. A delicious confection made from wood covered in velvet fabric, embellished with metallic gold passementerie trim with an aged patina and lined with blue silk. It has 2 large bevelled glass side windows and an opening front door with a decorative little brass handle. It has a remove-able inner seat and 2 carrying sticks which can be removed with care as the pins holding the gold metallic trim loops are a little loose. The sedan chair is in good overall condition with fading , wear , the odd age related mark and a light water stain to the bottom left just below the door. I have photographed the piece with a 8 1/4 inch high doll ( PLEASE NOTE THAT SHE IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE SALE ) to give you some idea of scale.
