22" (56 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a bisque-head doll with blue glass paperweight inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, brushstroked brows, accented eye corners and nostrils, open mouth, shaded and outlined lips, row of teeth, pierced ears, brunette mohair wig over cork pate, carton torso and legs, wire upper arms, bisque forearms. The doll is standing alongside a wooden dressing table with silk and lace ruffled skirt and hinged oval mirror upon which is arranged a porcelain washbowl and pitcher set along with various toilette articles. When wound, the doll turns her head side to side and then upright, while she alternately powders her noise and lifts her hand mirror to gaze at her reflection. Condition: generally excellent. Marks: L.B. (key). Comments: Leopold Lambert, with bisque head by Emile Jumeau, circa 1890. Value Points: enchanting and beautifully-presented automaton, the bebe is wearing a luxury ivory satin dress and bonnet, has original paper tune label with two tunes including La Valse Bleu; music and mechanism function well.
