Fanny (14 1/2" or 37 cm tall) is beyond excited that Christmas is almost here! She has convinced Mlle. Antoinette (17" or 43 cm) to help set up the tree and begin decorating it early, just in case Pere Noel decides to make a visit. And what a tree it is! From Germany, of course, where all of the finest holiday decorations come from, and made of goose quill feathers dyed green which are formed into a lovely tree that will last from year to year. It is attached to a wooden base that has a charming picket fence about it - all painted green and frosted with sparkly snow! The tree is decorated with silvery tinsel, tiny "candles" made of glass beads, and dozens of antique ornaments - all German-made. The star at the top is made of more tinsel and has a pretty scrap angel mounted upon the front. Fanny is especially enchanted by the tiny mushrooms made of both blown glass and spun cotton that she has found to decorate the branches. Along with the tiny wooden toys, glass birds with spun glass tails, round and bell shaped ornaments in silver, red and pink tones, she is also carefully adding some curls of white spun glass to enhance the magical look of the tree. Won't the rest of the Demoiselles in the Cabinet be pleased and surprised when they see it?
The tree stands 17" (43 cm) tall, and looks lovely displayed with classic-sized French fashions, but would also work well perched upon a miniature tabletop for larger sized dolls. All the items on the tree are antique (though there is a bakelite Scottie dog there as well who is certainly only vintage!), as is the tree and the stand, and is how I purchased it. I will package it carefully, but some items will likely need to be reattached once you receive it, and some of the larger, more fragile ornaments will be wrapped separately.
