Antique German Musical Manivelle Carousel Automaton, c. 1890
Wonderful musical automaton with 3 boys on horses, 2 girls in chariots and one empty chariot, decorated with gold-painted wood ball finials on red wire stems (one missing), velvet ribbon and silk trim, the riders with bisque heads, moulded hair and original costumes, on grained paper-covered base with floral transfers and hand-turned movement playing a single tune as the carousel revolves. This is height 13 in. (33 cm), base 8 in. (20 cm) square. Rare and charming mechanical toy in completely original condition! Please email me if you have any questions.
