9" (23 cm) Early Wooden GROEDNERTAL DOll - museum piece in excellent condition!

Wonderful early german wooden doll has slightly stood out nose, painted eyes, jointed wood body, old clothes, very nice original condition. Circa 1840.

It is coming from the Groednertal region of Germany which has been a major producer of wooden dolls since the 17C. One of the valley's best-known products is the peg wooden doll which was popular all over Europe and America in the 19th century.
