18" (46 cm.) Standing upon a velvet-covered wooden base is a bisque-headed Jumeau doll with painted clown decorations, brown glass paperweight inset eyes, open mouth with bisque articulated tongue, pierced ears, carton torso and legs, bisque forearms.
He is wearing a vivacious satin two colors clown costume and leather shoes, and is holding a wooden game in his left hand. Movements and Music. One tune plays. Meanwhile he turns his head side-to-side, the cap with bells up and down, his tongue teasingly at his lips, and then finally, he sassily sticks out his tongue at his on-lookers. The heag has red mark Tete Jumeau SGDG, number 4 and artist's check mark. Roullet & Decamps, Paris, circa 1890, the automaton appeared in the firm's catalog as model #257, described as "Clown anneau". In very goood condition, perfect bisque: no cracks, no hairlines, no restores. Very beautiful automaton! Please email me if you have any questions.
