18" (46 cm.) Beautiful Antique French Bisque Poupee with Rare Depose J Signature and Provenance Antique dolls at Respectfulbear.com

Rare french fashion doll with very beautiful face has a bisque swivel head with flat-cut neck on kid-edged bisque shoulder plate, deposed system of neck articulation allowing realistic 90 degree articulation only, cobalt blue enamel inset eyes, dark eyeliner, painted lashes, lightly feathered brows, accented nostrils and eye corners, closed mouth with accented lips, unpierced ears, brunette human hair wig over cork pate, kid body with shapely torso, bisque lower arms. She is wearing vintage boots, vintage silk two pieces burgundy gown and matching hat, muff, antique underwear.

Condition: generally excellent, her bisque head and shoulders free of hairline or damages, the poupee has bisque lower left hand that was restored.

Marks: Depose J (front shoulder plate).
This facial model closely resembles early portrait Jumeau poupee, indicated also by the "J" signature, and the depose mark refers to the luxury and rarely found neck articulation, circa 1870.

Inside of her muff I founded original label of the shop of notable French doll merchant Robert Capia (1934–2012).
The famous Parisian antiques dealer Robert Capia – an actor and specialist in antique toys, automata and dolls, whose legendary shop in the Galerie Vero-Dodat in the 1st arrondissement of Paris was, from the 1960s to the 2000s, a place of pilgrimage for collectors and the artistic bohemia. His shop windows were photographed by renowned photographers, including Robert Doisneau, and Capia himself became the author of classic works on dolls and toys (Les Poupees francaises, Les Poupees anciennes, Les Jouets anciens) and an official expert at the Paris Court of Appeal, so today his name is regarded as a mark of the very highest standard in the world of antique dolls.
