15" (38 cm) Rare Wonderful Rare French Mechanical Musical Automaton by Renou

A circular platform in the shape of a carousel base is covered in red velvet with gold metallic braid, and has a wooden center column with mirrored trim that supports the canopy top. Suspended from the canopy to are four paper mache/flannel-covered horses with tiny glass eyes, harness, stirrups and saddle, each carrying a tiny bisque dolls as rider. When wound, the carousel revolves around and around, and music plays. Excellent condition, music and mechanism function well Louis-Marie Renou, circa 1920, the model is shown in The Encyclopedia of French Dolls by Theimer, page 510. Excellent condition! I do a layaway.
