The doll has been confirmed as a J.Terrene Poupee by Jane Coleman and Francois Theimer, internationally known doll experts.
This astonishingly beautiful French Fashion is very desirable and would be a great asset to an excellent French fashion collection because of her unusual and rare body style. Collectors seek after these dolls because they are so rare, truly incredible detail in every way! The french lady body is styled with kid over a wooden body and kid over metal with “baggy pants” hips. She has bisque lower arms and her upper arms are made of metal and painted. She has bisque lower arms with perfectly shaped fingers. There is a small flaked on inside of 2 fingers of right. Please see my photos. They are articulated in such a way that her arms can be position in virtually every position. She is able to be seated, with her legs bent at the knees! She has a translucent swivel bisque socket head on porcelain shoulder plate (overall light speckling) incised “Sie C 3/0” made by Jules Nicholas Steiner, an early Series C 3/0. Her bisque is flawless and pale, with rose blushed cheeks and generous dark blonde eyebrows. She has a beautiful ocean blue paperweight eyes, delicately painted upper and lower lashes, mauve eye shadow, closed mouth with lip shading strokes, pierced ears, blonde mohair wig, painted eyebrows with tiny delicate strokes. She is wears antique original tan dress decorated with green silk, antique straw hat, underwear, leather shoes and stockings. According to The Dolls of Jules Nicholas Steiner series C and A heads are occasionally found on various lady bodies. Terrene worked with Steiner. Please look the Encyclopedia of Francois Theimer (volume 2, page 610): " Adelaide Terrene... did not manufacture any of her own dolls, instead supplying her store with merchandise from major manufactires such as BRU, STEINER and others". A stunning and rare lady! Very good condition. Size 14" (36 cm) tall. ------------------------------------ I DO A LAYAWAY NO STATE SALES TAX! Thanks for your visit to Respectfulbear doll shop!
