Comments: for the French market,late-19th century, the doll was designed to represent a native of Martinique that had been a French colony since 1636. An article about the dolls appeared in the French journal L'Illustration at that time. Very rare to find model with excellent construction details and imaginative design, is well-preserved. Only a few of these fine early dolls have been located and their maker remains a mystery. ------------------------------------ I DO A LAYAWAY NO STATE SALES TAX!
