18" (46 cm.) Bisque socket head with heart-shaped slender face portraying an adult lady, blue glass sleep eyes, dark eyeliner, painted curly lashes, short feathered brows, accented eye corners,aquiline nose with accented nostrils, closed mouth with extended accent line between the perfectly-formed lips, blonde mohair wig, very rare type original composition and wooden lady body.

Condition: generally excellent. Her bisque free of hairline or any damages. The body has original finish.
Her cloithing are antique.

Marks: 213 B&D 3 Ltd. Germany.
Bawo and Dotter,the 19th-century New York import firm maintained porcelain works in both Bavaria and Limoges (France), as early as 1864 although it was not until 1906 that they created a department devoted exclusively to dolls.
In 1907 advertised "new model heads with lifelike expressions",presumably their art character line, of which this doll is an example.
The luxury quality of their dolls did not meet success in a mass market,and few examples of the B&D art character dolls exist today.

Most sublime expression of serenity on the Edwardian era lady,with finest quality of bisque and painting,especially fine detail about the lips,having her original blonde mohair wig, original body and body finish, wearing fine antique costume comprising woolen jacket, stripped red dress, red velvet bonnet,undergarments, stockings,white kid ankle boots marked with number 3.

The silk parasol and while her paper mache/fur Borzoi dog are including to this sale.

Absolutely the same doll has been sold in Theriault's auction "O'Fancy - What a Jubilee!" for 19500 USD (+fee).
