Antique Early French Paper Mache Doll in Traditional Normandy Costume
15" (38 cm.) Solid domed papier-mache shoulder head of slender-faced lady,painted facial features,azure blue eyes,black upper eyeliner,feathered brows,accented nostrils of aquiline- shaped nose,closed mouth,prim lips,brunette human hair chignon is inserted in the center of her head. Her head underneath the hair is painted black. She has pink-kid firmly-stuffed poupee body with shapely torso. Condition: generally excellent. French,circa 1850. Value Points: the beautiful doll has all-original finish with nicely-detailed dainty facial features,and wears her original Normandy traditional costume with blue woolen dress and lace shawl,undergarments,slippers,and very elaborate original coiffe traditional for this region of France.
